About time-variant filtering of speech signals with time-frequency distributions for hands-free telephone systems

چکیده
Joint time-frequency distributions represent the energy or intensity of signal simultaneously in time and frequency. In this paper we introduce a smoothed version of the method denoted as S-method (SM) [18]. It is shown that it is an effective tool for representation of speech signals disturbed by noise. As a consequence, it can be efficiently applied to time-variant filter problems, as they occur in hands-free telephones. The optimal time-variant filter is derived in terms of the smoothed SM, and is illustrated by examples.

Time-Frequency Filtering of Speech Signals in Hands-Free Telephone Systems
Time-varying filtering of noisy speech signals is a very attractive challenge, with the main question: how does the most appropriate time-varying filter scheme look like? Speech signals are of highly nonstationary and multicomponent nature. If we deal with filtering of noisy speech signals, as they occur in hands-free telephone systems, then the desired scheme would provide a signal-to-noise ra...

Time-varying filtering of noisy speech signals based on linear prediction (LP) is presented. This approach is tested on noisy speech signals apparent in hands-free telephone systems.
متن کاملApplication of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation
Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...
متن کاملRobust Time-Varying Filtering of Speech Signals Corrupted by Mixed Gaussian and Impulse Noise
A robust time-varying filtering procedure for speech signals corrupted by mixed Gaussian and impulse noise is presented. It is based on the robust time-frequency distributions that can provide efficient representation of the noisy speech signals. The proposed approach has been compared with the time-varying filtering procedure based on the standard time-frequency distributions.
متن کاملSingle–Channel Speech Dereverberation based on Spectral Subtraction
Speech signals recorded with a distant microphone usually contain reverberation, which degrades the fidelity and intelligibility of speech in devices such as ’hands–free’ conference telephones, automatic speech recognition and hearing aids. One important effect of reverberation on speech is overlap–masking, i.e. the energy of the previous phonemes is smeared over time, and overlaps following ph...
